Remember the excitement of playing street hockey in your neighbourhood? Now imagine playing the game uninterrupted – car free, with Vancouver’s historic Chinatown and Downtown skyline as the backdrop. Game On! 1st Annual Chinatown Youth Street Hockey Tournament will be taking place on Saturday September 11th. Co-ed teams (ages 11-14) from Chinatown and surrounding community youth organizations will be taking part. Whether you’re taking part in the tournament action, or just a spectator, this is a great reason to come down to Chinatown and see what it has to offer. The most appealing aspect of this is that we get a street closed off for games of organized street hockey. How fun is that?
GOALS SCORED AT GAME ON!:
1) Foster new friendships between surrounding community youth organizations and strengthen existing ones
2) Create a positive, friendly, safe and fun, car-free activity on the streets of Chinatown
3) Promote the VCRC mandate of creating open dialogue with anyone and everyone interested in making Chinatown a more vibrant and complete community of Vancouver

GAME FORMAT: This will be a co-ed event so we encourage girls to join as well and play throughout the game. Children aged 11-14 is the limit, however, it is more important for teams to have the same average sized players so age exceptions can be discussed. Games consist of two 10 minute continuous running time halves. There will be two divisions and each team will play each other once for playoff rankings. Once this round of qualifying is over, we will have an elimination style playoff series, much like in the Olympics.
Please contact us by email to register a team or have any questions. We will respond with an attachment registration sheet to fill out and send back to us.

FAQs
1. What if I don't have enough people that belong to my community center group?
Then see if your friends from school, cousins, or neighbours want to play. Teams can be formed by any means, for example, if your school or recreation group is short a few players, then see if any of your friends outside of your group want to be a part of your team. If you alone are interested in playing, if you can gather 4 other friends/relatives up to 7, then you have a team to play.
